When you've been doing this for nearly three quarters of a century, you tend to have some experience to lean on. The Descente tradition, our philosophy, has always been to supply athletes with the most technically sound, highly durable and incredibly warm gear we can imagine. We feel our new line for 2007 does just that.

Using our Body Heat Technology Center, each garment is assured of its ability to retain heat in order to keep you warm. Which is in addition to our already extensive durability and performance tests. What impact does a kid with very little money, and even less education, have on society? If that young man is Takeo Ishimoto, the answer is: Plenty.

In 1935, an enterprising youth with little more than quiet determination and a healthy dose of passion opened his first retail store in Osaka, Japan. In a matter of years, that little store had begun manufacturing its own line of sports apparel and, most importantly, his ingenious stretch-style ski pants. The technically advanced and performance-friendly line became a local favorite of athletes who sought ski apparel that did more than just keep them warm. Now, warm is nice, to be sure, but what's more, the pants worked with the athlete, forming to the contours of the body that allowed a flexibility that, until then, had been ignored. That commitment to athletes continues today.

Having worked with some of the World's finest in sports ranging from speed skating, volleyball, swimming, cycling and, of course, skiing, our goal has always been to provide athletes, both professional and recreational, with apparel that provides a subtle comfort, one that is so effective that its presence goes almost unnoticed. Besides, there's enough on one's mind when racing down a mountain at imposing speeds.

Seventy-plus-years (and who knows how many R&D hours) later, Descente's North American offices have landed in Ogden, Utah. Only minutes from the picturesque Uintah Mountains, we've found ourselves in a burgeoning community dedicated to the world of skiing. After all, we not only carry on our founder's passion for quality ski apparel but also, when we have a free moment or two, his love of sport.
